FAQ -
"I
have never raced a triathlon before, all I have is a mountain
bike. Is that okay?"
Yes - mountain
bikes are fine for this race and they are out there every year
"Why does the race site charge $10 for USAT?"
USAT is the
sanctioning body for our sport. They provide race insurance and
national rakings.
Membership can be paid as a one time or
a yearly fee. See www.usatriathlon.org/
for
more information.
"I am really afraid of the water. How is this course
different?"
The areas to the far
left where you turn around, you can actually touch the bottom and walk
around the
corners. There
are also lane markers. just like in swimming pools. There are
"heats" or "waves"
so only a few athletes
actually start at a time. The race offers "Swim Angels" to
assist you if you need
a swimming
partner. I have access to clean, open water for additional
private swim coaching sessions.
"I am a high level competitor. Is this race for me?"
There are everything
from first time triathletes to pro women that race in this event.
This is a
great event to kick off
your triathlon season. I would recommend one-on-one, Elite
Level
training from
Trijimi.com.
"I
have no idea what to wear.....Help!!"
Training and racing are
a little different.
For training, I
recommend:
Swim - One-piece or two-piece made for competitive swimming
Bike - Triathlon or bike shorts and a top with pockets in the back
Run - Whatever you feel the most comfortable in
For racing, I
recommend:
Swim, Bike and Run - Triathlon top and triathlon shorts (I can make
recommendations) |
